Our Ecodotty founder, Dorothy Mahony, has worked as a Lab Technician and in the science industry for more than 50 years, and became increasingly aware of the impacts plastic has been having on our environment 

Dotty thought about how she could minimise her own use of single-use plastics and that's how she started making her own hand-made Beeswax Wraps.

Beeswax Wraps replace the need for flimsy cling wraps, can be reused for up to 12 months, and are biodegradable so they can simply join the rest of your compost at the end of their lifespan.

Dotty fell in love with their simplicity and functionality, and began increasing production to share with the broader community because less plastic use benefits everyone.

It was quickly realised that the broader public had the same thoughts as Dotty which expanded her product range into other eco-friendly areas. That's where the Metal Pegs, Beeswax Polish, and Tea Cosies came in as permanent residence. 

Dotty has grown up kitting and also used to spin her own wool from the sheep she had on her small family farm. She loved the idea of having a fun way to promote the use of loose leaf tea as tea bags can have nasty chemicals and micro plastics in them which is not good for us or for the environment. 

Ecodotty is increasingly expanding has a local, hand-made, family business and we can not wait to take you all along for the ride with us.
